Plumbing test.

There is a story behind this. I was shadowing a reporter for WHAG-TV and her story was about plumbers in training. I thought it would be neat to get a photo of one of the students working on piping.

Pre-gaming on caffeine at work.

Nothing like a caffeine fix before I go home to study the rest of the night. This pretty much sums up my life's sanity during this semester. I took on a full time schedule while working. During these times, it was kind of difficult to be taking pictures at some points. I snapped this in the stock room at work. Can you say caffeine overload? Heart attack in a can.

A good hearty plate of spaghetti and meatballs.

As you may notice, I've had a fetish of taking pictures of food. I was at an Italian eatery and I feel that if something looks good, it should be seen by more than a few people. Yum! Completely random, but it's a daily photo.

Flipping through her sketchbook at lunchtime.

I really enjoyed the movement in this photo. Even at lunch time, this girl is constantly committed to her artwork.

Break-up revenge cd?

I was outside of Knutti one day and I found this chipped disc lying in a parking space. I wonder if it was a broken-hearted revenge playlist. "I've Got a Bone to Pick with You." (good music) Nice clean background even though it's the blacktop.

Yasmeen adds finishing touches

t would make for a nice silhouette had the lights been a little dimmer. I was disappointed at how a few of these turned out. I was kind of limited with my point and shoot. However, this still makes for a nice image as it takes ion a different angle.

Enjoyment.

This picture was definitely one of my favorites. I put this image into my final set of photos. I cropped the image to the top of her head and paintbrush to utilize a sense of tension.

I didn't use this picture in the project because the lighting in that basement was not visually pleasing. Other than that, it's a nice image depicting an artist's connection to her work.

The gloomy lighting in the background makes it a nice dreamlike picture.

Veggie pizza

Food is always fun to photograph. The clarity in this photo takes my breath away as I was only using a point and shoot. The color of the vegetables makes it a beautiful image.

My black pug, Lucie and my orange cat Cisco. It makes for an adorable moment. I enjoy how the variety of colors all come together here. It's a nice portrait shot for animals.

pigeons on gravel

I was in Washington D.C. one day. It was kind of gloomy that day, but all of these pigeons were walking around on the gravel of the Smithsonian's tour area.

Our shadows sideways upon concrete @ 9/11 memorial.

My friend Charisse and I. I took notice as our shadows were casting down upon the ground of the 9/11 tour area. I noted it as a different way to take a picture of yourself.

People sitting inside of the 9/11 Memorial

I was in New York City over spring break, and I snapped this while I was touring the South Pool of the 9/11 Memorial. The photo depicts great balance as there are two people on each block while the one in the middle is left blank. I cropped it to the top of their heads to make it look more appealing.

I love the tension here. I like that I captured that base right in front of him.

It makes a nice rule of thirds photo. I love that I was actually able to get the detail in the dirt.

Tension

I snapped this as he was preparing to bat. It gives a great sense of a player's tension as he finishes a swing.

The movement of the batter's feet and the shadow that he casted turned out perfect with ambient light that was available. There is s nice rim light on his helmet.

Playing guitar in front of Reynolds

This guy was just sitting there jamming when I entered campus one day. I snapped a quick shot before he was able to see me. It was fairly easy as I didn't have a huge camera for him to see. It's a nice moment and show some tension between the player and guitar.

Cute child in the bakery. (cropped)

I was in the Shepherdstown bakery recently when this adorable little boy started enthusing about all the treats he wanted his Grandma to buy him.

Valentine cupcakes

These cupcakes were available to students in the Ram's Den. As it was Valentine's Day, many students took advantage of treating their sweethearts. This photo makes a nice food feature photo. Since the cupcakes were so festive, I snapped this shot before anyone ate them.

Laura and Meena.

To give a greater sense of who Yasmeen is, I want to capture as much of her relationship as possible. As she is my sister's girlfriend, it shouldn't be very difficult. I want to tell the more personal side as well as the artsy side.

Yasmeen draws

I wanted to start capturing Yasmeen as the person as well as the artist. This photo works because it is very active. We can see that she is drawing this photo as I shot it. I cropped her head off at the right as it made for a more intimate moment. Her hand leads the eye across the page to her concentrated expression.

As one of my first attempts at portraits, I decided to start shooting my subject for my final project. Yasmeen's eyes really pop out in this photo. I decided not to take this photo as a straight on (mug shot) as I feel that tilting it made a more intimate look. I wanted her eyes to stand out in this one (as they do).

General News:Pastor Kenneth Gill of Feagaville Parish expresses his excitement.

Pastor Kenneth Gill leads members of his Neighbor to Neighbor Program as they gather inside the building. The program involves volunteers who donate household goods and clothing to those who are less fortunate. He later led a prayer in the grand opening of the program.

This was a nice little moment. The Neighbor to Neighbor Program in Thurmont launched on that Saturday morning as Pastor Kenneth led a prayer.

Construction on Shepherdstown Town Hall.

I took this photo as these guys were working on the roof. I wanted to get the man holding the glass in the center of the shot, but this works just as well.

Mirrored spiral in a restroom mirror.

This photo was taken in the restroom at the Lost Dog Cafe in Shepherdstown. I like the idea of mirroring an image one wouldn't typically see. The spiral mirroring itself seemed like a cool concept, so I snapped this as I simply found it interesting. Art work is always fun to play with while shooting.

Fence shadows upon red brick.

I've been practicing quite a bit with light and times of the day. Sunlight worked excellent with this photo as it illuminates the red brick beautifully. Working with the ambient light during the early morning and early evening have made for very nice photos.

Curvy tree branch.

I'm very proud of this photo as it serves as another artsy, "more than meets the eye" types. The viewer can get a good sense of dividing this photo in half which also gives it a nice feel. I love how curvy this branch appears when looking up instead of straight on. The clean, clear, blue sky also gives it a nice touch as it makes the branches pop out.

Finally got a decent shutter speed photo!

After struggling so many times with my point and shoot camera, my attempt at shutter speed finally succeeded. I thought that the bright, popping blue car would stand out well among the blurry brick building. Although I wish this were a shot of the full car, it still served well for utilizing shutter speed.

A hand full of orange.

This photo made for a nice clean backgound. I always enjoyed the idea of a hand holding an object as pure as fruit. I happened to be peeling my orange one day as I was leaving my car. I sat there observing what a great photo this would make. Therefore, I proceeded to snap this shot which turned out very nice. Again, "more than meets the eye" can be appealing.

Pretty orange leaf.

I'm always motivated to find the beauties of nature. In that sense, I wanted to take a picture that depicted more than meets the eye. When I saw this leaf hanging from a tree outside of Knutti Hall, I just had to snap it. It was taken right before the drop of water dripped off of the leaf's edge.

Church and sky.

This is a photograph of a subject that I have always found fun to shoot. Churches always make for a nice photograph. The one thing that stood out to me while taking this was the popping blue sky. It made a nice clean background and gave the photo a sense of depth.

Foggy morning before the bridge.

This served as a great depth of field photo. I took this right before crossing the Shepherdstown, WV bridge. I thought it would be a neat idea to take a picture while actually on the road. Although it may put the photographer at risk, photos like this can turn out nice as this one did.

Sunlight peering through tree quartet

I've become inspired by the beauty of silhouette photos of trees. This was a successful turnout. It was once again taken in the early morning just as the sun provides the perfect amount of ambient light. This was taken in the park right before crossing the Shepherdstown bridge. There were some cool looking tree shots, so I decided to experiment.

A warm, glowing morning in January.

My first attempted silhouette really worked out nicely. I live in Boonsboro, MD which is a more rural area. My Mom's horses often graze the field in the dawning of new days. I thought it would be nice to get a silhouette photograph of the sun just hitting over them. It's always nice to have that ambient light available in the early morning.
